Corinthian Architects Joins UAP-B2 sa Isla ng Cagbalete

The beautiful island of Cagbalete in Mauban, Quezon served as our venue, as UAP Regional District B2 conducted its survivor inspired assembly last May 23-24.

Six Corinthian Architects that included Chapter President Ar. Omar Palero, Incoming VP Ar. Joy Villar, Incoming Chapter Secretary Ar. Clang Torralba, Incoming Chapter Director Ar. Jared Cruz, his wife Ar. Nadia Cruz and Ar. Michael Blanco, joined 60 other Architects from the different chapters under the Directorship of Ar. Raymond Vera.

The day started early, as we convene at the designated pick-up point along Taft Avenue in front of NBI.  Our travel time took longer than expected due to a missed turn and obstacles along the way.  Still the major challenge which is the meal preparation proceeded as planned.

Since we arrived in Lucena at noon, DD Raymond, provided snacks in anticipation of a much later lunch.  Along the way, the delegates were divided into four teams with assigned colours.  Each team would have to prepare a meal good for 80 persons with a budget of 4000php each.  As soon as we reached the town of Mauban, the teams proceeded to purchase their ingredients at the town market.

An hour later, we assembled at the port for our boat ride to the Island.

When we reached Pansacola Beach Resort, the different teams, especially Red who's in charge of lunch proceeded to their station.  The other delegates settled on their assigned huts while others took the opportunity to explore the beach.  As the hours progresses, The Green team in charge of merienda started preparing their meals, and so did the Yellow who proceeded with the dinner preparations.

Although late, our 1st meal on the Island was a feast of Lunch, Merienda and Dinner combined.  After eating, the delegates took the opportunity to catch up and socialise with members from the other chapters.  Some went drinking, others went swimming, and some tried to catch up on sleep.

The next day, it was the Orange Team that was busy at work preparing our breakfast.  Since we have very little time exploring the beach the previous day, some delegates went on the island tour being offered by the local boatmen.

By the time we got back, we freshened up and made preparations for our departure.  Our lunch this time is being provided by the resort.  Not to be outdone, it was also a feast of their specialties that included 12 Crispy Pata and other seafoods.

After eating, we then proceeded to check out.  We assembled again at the beachfront for the compulsory group picture and went to the boats that will take us back to Mauban.

On our way back, we made a quick stop at Lucban for pasalubong.  The ride back was relatively shorter as we reach Manila around 10PM.

Of the many UAP gatherings we have attended, this would have to be the most unpredictable, but at the same time memorable.

The survivor concept allowed architects to test their tolerance for what the circumstances would offer, and to have fun by just going with the flow.  The event gave a different glimpse of the personalities that can only happen in an Island.  We were amazed at Ar. Allan's cooking skills and the initiatives of UAP Maharlika Chapter ladies namely Ar. Donna Del Mundo and Ar. Bel Ticsay together with MAGS Ar. Alpha Azarcon for making that extra effort on ensuring were all well fed.

We also congratulate the District Council under the leadership of Ar. Raymond Vera for coming up with this activity, and letting us discover new places at the same time new experiences.  Thank you also to Chapter President's Ar. Videl Mendoza, Ar. Mike Baruiz, Ar. Sly Seno, Ar. Felix Resurreccion and Ar. Ludel Mercene for their help.

Mabuhay ang Manila Corinthian, Manila Maharlika, Manila Alcaldia, Manila Maynilad, MAGS, Intramuros, La Solidaridad, at Ontario Chapters para sa nagkakaisang UAP District B2!

11th GMM: Corinthians Into Sports, Bowl for A Cause

Now on its 5th Leg, that started during the term of Ar. Pam Constantino, the Chapter once again held its Mini Bowling Tournament last April 24, 2015 at Paeng's Midtown Bowl, Robinsons Place Manila.

Two teams competed and the group of Ar. Gabbie Cascante, Ar. Albert Realosa, AR. Jun Norte, Ar. Vhic Idano and Ar. Joseph Barsana  won with Ar. Idano as the MVP.

The event is made possible through the generosity of Philflex.  Thank you AR. Manny Padit.

10th GMM: Corinthian Lakaran: Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm

Since I took the Presidency for the Chapter, it has always been my dream to bring my members to the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm to be inspired.  Apart from the technology they introduced to their structures, it's actually the culture that's actually contagious.

The tour starts with an orientation of what Gawad Kalinga is all about.  Participants were introduced to the Walang Iwanan concept and empowering the poor.  Interns from Europe also shared how they are involve with the group and the things they do to help the farm.

Students of S.E.E.D. or the School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development shared the struggles they experienced before eventually given a chance to this unique style of learning.  Instead of the traditional curriculum, they are more immersed and is designed to make businessmen out of these individuals.  They encourage them to be employers instead of an employee.

After the orientation, we were then guided to the farms facilities.  We were taken to the Ark Angel Center for Arts that holds big gatherings, The Bamboo Pavilion, The Nautilus Shaped Structure that provides a good view of the property, The Spa and the different types of Accommodation.

After the tour, we were rewarded with a meal from the farms freshest produce and sampled the products from the Small and Medium Enterprise that the farm introduced.

Our 8th GMM was also made special, because it’s the time that the chapter elected its board of directors for the FY 2015-2016.  The event was made possible through the generosity of Steeltech.

The new board was announced a few weeks later and the elected officers are shown below.

7th GMM: Corinthian Lakaran: Hihintayin Kita sa Batanes

It has been a long time dream of the Chapter to visit Batanes especially with a member Ar. Joseph Barsana who hails from the province.  Last January 30, 2015, the dream has come to a reality to 7 chapter members as we explore the Island.  Our 3 day journey was filled with unexpected challenges, but the province never failed on letting us see its beauty.
